Metastatic Lobular Carcinoma of the Male Breast Masquerading as a Pancreatic Head Mass, a Diagnostic Dilemma—Rare Case and Literature Review

Abstract Male breast cancer comprises of 1% all and invasive lobular carcinomas (ILC) are even rarer in males. ILC known to have unusual metastatic sites. We report a case 51-year-old male diagnosed with cancer, who presented recurrent chest wall nodule icterus after 24 months disease-free interval. On further investigations, he was found pancreatic head mass associated conjugated hyperbilirubinemia suggestive obstructive jaundice left parasternal soft tissue recurrence. A self-expandable metallic stent inserted for cholangitis. Biopsy from the recurrence suspected be either second primary or an isolated metastasis on imaging. In surgical resection if operable localized planned. However, staging laparoscopy, patient mild ascites multiple peritoneal nodules, which biopsy proved metastases ILC. Patient treated second-line hormonal therapy luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone agonist aromatase inhibitor. may present sites leading diagnostic dilemma. high index suspicion appropriate biopsies can help one embark upon most plan.
